My transition into the role of a Trainee Solicitor.
Following a life-altering accident during my time in the Royal Air Force Regiment, I felt compelled to pursue a new path and fulfill my longstanding interest in law. In November 2017, I embarked on a fresh career journey with the Buckinghamshire Council Waste Services team while simultaneously commencing my Law degree at the University of Buckingham. As I pursued my studies, I successfully secured the Trainee Solicitor position, which began on January 3rd, 2022.
Immersing myself into comprehending the inner workings of the council’s systems and procedures has been a source of immense satisfaction for me. I eagerly volunteered as an Employee Representative, allowing me to acquire knowledge about different teams and actively participate in various meetings. Since my secondment to the Legal Team and my transition into the role of a Trainee Solicitor, my journey has been one of continual growth and a continuous demonstration of the qualities necessary to thrive as a Solicitor.
Within the council, my goal is to deliver exceptional service aligned with the council’s vision and values, contributing to the objectives of the Legal & Democratic Service. This entails ensuring the provision of an efficient, consistent, and high-quality service that remains responsive to customer demands and engaging in legal work commensurate with my assigned grade and within the specific area of practice of the legal team.
Working alongside my colleagues has proven to be an absolute pleasure. With numerous team functions operating seamlessly, we collectively achieve superior results for all involved. Although a significant portion of our work is conducted remotely, the accessibility and helpfulness of our team foster an engaging and enjoyable work environment. One aspect I particularly appreciate about my role is the flexibility to choose between working from home or the office, greatly facilitating my responsibilities as a full-time parent.
Being part of the council has given me the opportunity to actively contribute to the improvement of Buckinghamshire as a desirable place to reside and raise a family. If you are considering a career with the council, rest assured that your work will have a direct impact on the community. Here, the teams are approachable and supportive, providing ample opportunities and guidance as you advance your career within our organisation.
