Meet Sarah — Resourcing Consultant and adventurer.
I joined Buckinghamshire Council at the start of this year…
I manage the recruitment for the Deputy Chief Executive and Resources Directorates. This means assisting managers with the their recruiting requirements and the process involved — from advising, advertising strategies, and interviews, right through to appointing candidates.
My typical workday…
I manage recruitment requests, liaise and meet with hiring managers and directors regarding their recruitment, plan advertising campaigns, answer queries, advise on best practise and work with my team to ensure adverts, interviews and candidate checks are completed.
I really enjoy being outdoors…
In my spare time, my partner and I like to travel around the UK. Our dog Mimi often comes with us too!
I’m a country girl at heart…
I grew up in Devon so I often visit each month to see my family. It’s such a nice part of the country especially when you have good weather. As Buckinghamshire Council offers hybrid working I have even been lucky enough to work from my parents’ house in Devon.
My big passion is traveling abroad…
I love visiting new places and experiencing different cultures. I have been lucky enough to visit some fascinating destinations. Recently, my partner and I went on a road trip to Jordan and explored Petra. I have watched the annual migration in Africa while on Safari, swam in Zanzibar, climbed Mount Sinai to watch the sunrise and swam with wild Dolphins in Egypt. I have skied in Canada and paraglided off the cliffs in Turkey, and much more!

…is talking to different people. No two days are the same and I enjoy the fast pace.
My top tip for anyone coming to work at Buckinghamshire Council?
Make sure you network as much as possible across different departments -everyone is very friendly and it’s good to have contacts! Also, try out the New York Deli Café at our Walton Street offices — their Butterscotch Lattes are amazing…
