My name is Charlotte, and I am the Social Work Academy Team Manager in Children’s Social Care. I oversee and manage Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) in Children’s services throughout their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE). My role allows me to think strategically about the development of the team, and our workforce as a whole. We have a fantastic, eager, and diverse group of NQSWs, and I am really proud of their work so far!

Our team is comprised of two Advanced Practitioners and a Business Support Officer to support, guide and assess NQSWs in their first year of employment. We embrace a supportive and learning culture to get the very best practice out of our NQSW’s to ensure the best outcomes for children and their families.

Our cohort of NQSWs have successfully completed their ASYEs, and it has been fantastic to see them progress. They have continued to rise to the challenge of working throughout COVID-19 by providing children and families with a great service.

We also welcomed our new cohort of 20 NQSWs in September 2021. Two Social Workers from our January cohort came back to deliver presentations to the new group, and I am incredibly proud of the shared learning and development we have achieved within the Academy. I am so passionate about providing NQSWs with a safe and secure place to practice social work with children and families, and we continue to gather feedback from NQSWs about their experiences.
